Discovered by Disaster Season 1

Extreme weather and catastrophic events don't only destroy — they uncover. Season 1 investigates medieval skeletons, Mayan hieroglyphics, shipwrecks, and lost cities revealed only after disaster tore the ground open.

Discovered by Disaster turns calamity into revelation. Hurricanes, droughts, landslides, and human-made catastrophe scar the Earth — and in the scar tissue, history surfaces: medieval skeletons, Mayan glyphs, sunken wrecks, and cities no map had recorded. Season 1's ten episodes follow those finds from the moment they appear to the reconstructions that explain what they meant.

For Shark Teeth Films we built a custom VFX pipeline tuned for volume and speed: forty-plus shots per episode, four hundred-plus across the season, each averaging twenty-five to forty-five seconds on screen. Every setup mixes real-time visual effects, full 3D environments, and bespoke 2D and 3D assets — hand-animated, then rendered in a pseudo-real look that holds up on broadcast while staying fast enough to iterate on a factual schedule and budget. Roughly one in ten shots lands as pure 2D; the rest carry the dimensional weight of collapsed coastlines and excavated ruins.

Season 1 delivered for Boat Rocker with acquisitions including National Geographic (U.S.), Seven. One, RTI, Blue Ant, and Bell Media. The open establishes the series' visual grammar — disaster as excavation, reconstruction as proof.
